About Kaley
Kaley is an illustrator that is based in San Diego, CA. She loves all things fun and creepy, and specializes in children’s book illustration.

Kaley graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2016 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Illustration and a minor in Communication Design.
About Kaley…But the longer version
I grew up all over the country, but I have the strongest roots in Dallas (Texas), Milwaukee (Wisconsin), and Southern California. I’ve always had a passion for drawing, starting when I was very young. I would draw my favorite Digimon and Neopets on all of my mom’s printer paper, and would spend hours creating fantasy stories with my two younger sisters. Mind you, these stories were never us playing house: our characters would have full plots of murder mysteries, betrayal, and heartbreak. I imagine when my parents would hear us playing, they probably thought we were very intense.
After graduating high school in 2012, I attended the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, an art college up in Wisconsin. Through my time at MIAD it became clear that I wanted to focus in illustration, and have a minor focus in graphic design (which is called Communication Design in MIAD’s curriculum). I was able to get a summer internship at Kohl’s Corporate office, which is just outside of Milwaukee. This internship lead to me getting a full-time position as an artist for their children’s clothing.
After almost 5 years at Kohl’s, I was ready for a new adventure. I made the jump to San Diego, where I work in the publishing branch of the book distributor ReaderLink. I am a senior designer for their children’s imprints, largely focusing on licensed books for Bluey, Disney, Star Wars, Nickelodeon, etc. I also get to illustrate some books for the company, which is a blast!
When I’m not drawing, I love to play video games and watch anime. I also love reading graphic novels when I have the time. I live in San Diego with my husband, Jake, and our cat, Jellybean. We also have a hamster named Macadamia, and a fish named Edward Cullen.
